PRESS RELEASE

State Senator Deborah Ortiz (ret.) and SCUSD School Board Trustee Leticia Garcia (ret.) endorse Phil

Today, State Senator Deborah Ortiz (ret.) and Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education Trustee Leticia Garcia (ret.) each announced their endorsement of Phil Pluckebaum for City Council.

Senator Ortiz, announcing her endorsement, said, “I am hopeful that our city can rise above today’s challenges. I believe Phil can bring about the change needed to move beyond our current stalemate, lack of consensus. He knows our challenges cannot be solved by staying frozen in ‘either/or’ solutions. He is the best person to unite neighborhoods in District 4 by respectfully listening to all and making the difficult but compassionate decisions we need to move forward. As a resident of District 4, I am honored to support Phil for Sacramento City Council.”

SCUSD Board Member Garcia said, “I’ve known Phil for over a decade. He is a dedicated, detail-oriented individual that we need on the City Council to help develop real solutions to the problems facing Sacramento.”

Senator Ortiz is a longtime advocate for the residents of Sacramento, serving on the City Council, State Assembly, State Senate and now the Los Rios Community College District. Leticia Garcia is a respected education advocate who served on the Sacramento City Unified School District Board of Education representing East Sacramento among other neighborhoods. Each of their endorsements follows a diverse coalition of support including the Sacramento-Sierra’s Building and Construction Trades Council, Sacramento Metro Chamber Political Action Committee, Sacramento Police Officers Association, and Sacramento County Supervisors Patrick Kennedy, Phil Serna, Pat Hume, and Rich Desmond.

A long time City of Sacramento resident, Phil brings eight years of experience from his work on the city’s Planning and Design Commission. His active involvement in numerous local civic organizations and dedication to volunteer work shows his deep commitment to the city’s progress. Phil is a project manager for UC Davis Health, where he has a proven track record of bringing stakeholders to the table to solve complex problems and keep projects on track.
